SCR - only Concept for Heavy - duty Euro VI Applications
نویسنده
چکیده
To meet Euro VI emission targets for heavy-duty applications, truck manufacturers concentrate on Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and its combination with urea-based Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). TNO developed a concept that opens the route for an alternative solution which relies on SCR as the main technology for NOx abatement. This concept offers potential fuel benefits in combination with low impact on engine design and cooling equipment. Together with Haldor Topsøe, Yara and Grundfos, TNO examined the achievable NOx emission reduction on an engine dynamometer. DEVElOPMENT

Impacts of the Euro VI heavy duty emission standard for the Netherlands
The European Commission recently presented its proposal for Euro VI emission standards for vehicles with heavy duty diesel engines (trucks and buses). The proposal calls for reductions in 2013 in the emissions of particulate matter (-67%) and NO x (-80%) compared to the Euro V requirements. In the Netherlands, the implementation of this proposal will lead to a reduction of the total NO x emissi...
متن کاملDiesel Emission Control in Review
This summary covers the developments from 2006 in diesel regulations, engine combustion, and NOx and PM remediation. Regulatory developments are now focused on Europe, where light-duty Euro 5 and 6 regulations have been proposed for 2009 and 2014, respectively. The regulations are lass stringent than those in the US, but options exist for adopting European vehicles for the US market. Europe is ...
متن کاملSolid Particle Number Emission Factors of Euro VI Heavy-Duty Vehicles on the Road and in the Laboratory
Particulate matter (PM), and in particular ultrafine particles, have a negative impact on human health. The contribution of vehicle PM emissions to air pollution is typically quantified with emission inventories, which need vehicle emission factors as input. Heavy-duty vehicles, although they represent a small percentage of the vehicle population in nearly every major country, contribute the ma...
متن کاملCost implications of various Euro 4 and 5 aftertreatment solutions for heavy duty diesel vehicles
This study is firstly a short review of the types of exhaust systems predicted for Euro 4 (2005) and Euro 5 (2008), particularly focussed on the effects of combined NOx (nitrogen oxides) and PM (particulate matter) aftertreatment systems. Secondly, it explores in detail the implications of using a liquid secondary water-based fuel of urea on board heavy duty diesel vehicles in Europe as a basis...
